The Alfriston Playground
Alfriston Playground is in a corner of Alfriston Recreation Ground, just off The Broadway.
Although in a residential area, it also enjoys an enviable scenic location, just 200m from the South Downs Way, with views of the South Downs and the sheep in the fields.
It serves Alfriston village and neighbouring villages who do not have a playground, and is an important resource for local families.
The playground is opposite Alfriston Primary school and is often used as a base for after school play and socialising.
The playground is also adjacent to Alfriston Cricket Club, and families of the Cricket Club and visiting teams often use it during matches

Playground Renovation Project
The playground has been loved by many generations although it is now in need of improvement.
Without further investment it is sadly likely to close. A voluntary community group, The Friends of Alfriston Playground, are working with Alfriston Parish Council to save the playground and are currently raising funds for its renovation.
The project, when funded, will enable Alfriston Parish Council to replace recently condemmed equipment and replace other equipment and surfacing at the end of its life.
The proposed design has been drawn up during a year long consultation with the community and stakeholders and includes new swings, a fort, a pick up sticks log climber, and a tower multiplay for the under 5s.
The proposed design also includes a Natural Play zone, with log seating, leaf paving stones and a magnifying post. A wildflower border and sensory planters will be maintained by the Alfriston Family Nature Club, and there will also be 3 picnic tables.
